Kevin Rudden 

EFCA President​

Kevin Rudden, Chartered Engineer is a past ACEI President and a Fellow of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI).  Kevin was appointed in 2017 for a three year term as President of the European Federation of Consulting Engineering Associations (EFCA).  He is the first Irish person to be elected to this prestigious position.

 

Kevin’s role as CEO in Garland since 2011 has seen him lead the strategic direction of the firm, including the expansion and establishment of the consultancy within the Middle East. Kevin prioritises the delivery of services to the highest standards, establishing positive client relationships and the design of safe, ethical and quality buildings. He continues to develop partnerships and is committed to the growth and promotion of Garland across the globe. 

Ciarán Kennedy 

ACEI President

Ciaran Kennedy, Chartered Engineer is Managing Director of Barrett Mahony Consulting Engineers.  He was presented with a European CEO of the Year Award at the 2018 CEO Awards in London. 

 

Ciaran was first elected as a member of the ACEI Executive in 2007 and has served on the Executive Board under many esteemed Presidents over the past decade in a variety of roles including:  Convenor of the Structures committee; Convenor of the CPD Committee; Honorary Secretary, second Vice-President and Vice-President.  He has also maintained active involvement in the Structures Committee of the ACEI since 2002, keeping him abreast of technical developments in the construction industry which has seen recent fundamental changes in procedures, legislation and regulations.

Maurizio Boi

CEO Tecnolav / EFCA Board Member

Maurizio developed his professional career in the design, construction and supervision of civil/ industrial works. In 1998 he founded Tecnolav Engineering which operates primarily in civil, industrial and infrastructure works. The firm has a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to the engineering field with specific procedures and instructions of an Integrated Management System. 

In 2005, Maurizio was appointed regional representative of OICE (Association of Organization of Engineering and Technical Consultants - Economic) for Sardinia. In June of 2008, he was nominated as President of the Interregional Council of OICE by the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. In May of 2013 Maurizio represented the OICE in Brussels at the EFCA (European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations) AGM and in Barcelona at the World Conference for the centenary of FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) in the same year. In May 2014 he became a member of the EFCA Board of Directors

Nikola Matic is a qualified Engineer with over 25 years experience in Engineering in infrastructure and buildings sector. He is especially experienced in multi-disciplinary project studies covering the integration of various segments under the FIDIC model of contracts.

Nikola’s experience has encompassed planning, procurement, contract management, implementation and cost management of a multitude of projects in areas of land transportation, infrastructure facilities and building sector.  He is at the forefront of the digital transformation in the Serbian construction sector and is a cofounder and member of the Board of Directors of BIM Serbia.

In addition, Nikola is very experienced in the areas of negotiation, mediation, claim and contract management and problem solving in relation to locally funded projects.

Claire Penny

IoT World Wide Solution Leader, IBM

Dr Claire Penny works in the Watson IoT Business Unit, where she gets to combine all her passion, experience and learning from the past 16 years and focus it into BIM (Building Information Modelling) and IOT (Internet of Things) in the operational phase of a building. This combination means that she can add value to customers, whilst working and collaborating with brilliant teams, to develop and deliver cognitive building solutions. She regularly shares her knowledge and passion through public speaking and social media activities. Claire’s external commitments include: Chair of the CitA BICP (BIM Innovation Capaility Programme) Client BIM Task Group, Ireland (Jan 2016 – present, Non-executive Director of WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) Ireland, (2005 – present). Claire’s PhD was attained from Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK. Her M.Sc, attained from University of London, Wye College, Kent and B.Sc (hons) from Liverpool Polytechnic.

He has worked with global organisations and with a range of Irish government agencies and departments, advising and delivering on topics such as leadership, talent strategies, organisation design, culture, digital enablement and the future of work.

Elisa Maceratini

Keios Development Consulting

Dr. Elisa Maceratini is an architect and urban planner, PhD in Urban Regeneration, working at Keios Development Consulting since 2014. 
She has specialized in integrated urban development, slum upgrading, regional and urban planning and participatory design, with work experience in more than 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America as international consultant for multilateral development agencies, local governments, municipalities and NGOs.


From 2007 to 2015 Dr. Maceratini was also engaged at the Sapienza University of Rome and Perugia University as lecturer in urban planning, architectural design and mapping and she is currently invited as lecturer in various international universities.

 

Since 2010 she chairs “Interazioni Urbane”, an Italian NPO composed by a team of young professionals aimed to reactivate abandoned public spaces and to develop processes of urban regeneration and social inclusion through participatory design. In 2015 she was awarded by the President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella for her commitment demonstrated in the social and professional sectors of the Italian female society. In 2017 Elisa Maceratini was appointed as Italy Chaiperson for Social Innovation by the Women Economic Forum (WEF) and in 2018 she received the WEF global award for "Exceptional Women of Excellence" and the "EFCA Young Professional Award" (2nd runner up). 

Riitta Kujala is working as a process design engineer in Neste Engineering Solutions in Finland. She holds a degree of master's in chemical engineering from Aalto University, Helsinki. She is an expert in the area of process engineering specializing biotechnology processes where she has been working lately as a project manager or as a lead process design engineer. During the past 7 years Riitta's career has involved bioprocess development, research of biofeedstocks, technology profitability analysis and commissioning of process units and process modifications. Her passion is in circular and biobased economy.

Riitta Kujala is the Chairperson of Finnish MA YP working group - SKOL Konsulttinuoret. She is also the Vice Chair of EFCA Young Professionals Steering Committee.

Sarah Ingle

ACEI Secretary General

 

Dr Sarah Ingle, Secretary General ACEI, is a graduate of DIT Bolton Street (Production Engineering), UCD (Masters in Industrial Engineering) and DCU (PhD in Strategic Management).  She has worked as a manufacturing engineer in several Irish multinationals including Fruit of the Loom, AT&T and Cabletron Systems.  Being joining ACEI in 2015, Sarah’s most recent post was in Dublin City University as Director of Quality Promotion from 2010.  Previously she was a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise at DCU Business School.  Sarah was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Arizona State University in 2006 and is President Emeritus of the Irish Fulbright Alumni Association (IFAA).  Since 2017 she has been the Chair of the Fulbright Commission in Ireland nominated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.  

Jan Van der Putten,

EFCA Secretary General

 

Jan Van der Putten, is Secretary General of the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA). As Secretary General, Jan oversees the work and activities of the federation and is responsible for the overall management.

Jan joined EFCA in 1992 as communication officer. In that capacity he addressed many issues of concern relating to the engineering consultancy services industry within a European context.  In 1999, Jan was appointed Secretary General of the federation and became its spokesperson dealing with European institutions and agencies. In that role he has built up a vast network within the European institutions as well as with peer federations based in Brussels. Since the 2004 EFCA – FIDIC Agreement, Jan coordinates all EFCA - FIDIC activity with a view to avoiding an overlap in operations. Prior to joining EFCA Jan worked for 9 years in development cooperation as executive policy officer and for 2 years in a cultural centre as editor.

Nelson Ogunshakin,

FIDIC Chief Executive Officer

Dr Nelson Ogunshakin FICE OBE was appointed as the new FIDIC Chief Executive Officer in July 2018 with overall responsibility for FIDIC global operations. He is also a Member of the Board of Transport for London (TfL) and TfL nominee Board member of Cross Rail Limited in London.

Nelson was the immediate past President and CEO of ACE for 14 years. He co-chaired the NIPEF and was appointed member of the London Infrastructure Delivery Board. He chairs the Investment Committee of ARM-Harith Infrastructure Investment Funds and has over 30 years’ experience in planning, finance, delivery and management of major property and infrastructure investment projects

Karin Sluis 

Managing Director, Witteveen+Bos

 

Karin Sluis has a long track record at Witteveen+Bos. This consultancy is a major player in the field of water, infrastructure, environment and construction and is involved in various AES projects. In addition to her role as Managing Director of Witteveen+Bos, Karin is a member of the top team of the top sector Water. She is also a member of the Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innovation. Karin was presented with a European CEO of the Year Award at the 2018 CEO Awards in London.   

Gerry Carty

Vice-President ACEI, CEO RPS

 

Gerry Carty is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, a Fellow of Engineers Ireland and a registered Fellow of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (FConsEI).  Gerry is Managing Director of RPS Group Limited and RPS Consulting Engineers Limited and chairs the management boards of both organisations. He was presented with a European CEO of the Year Award at the 2018 CEO Awards in London. 


Gerry has over 34 years experience working as an engineer, environmental consultant, regulator and Director in the private and public sectors.  He has extensive experience in the establishment, re-invigoration and management of organisations delivering and managing infrastructure.  This has included leading strategic reviews, strategy development and implementation of change programmes across a range of companies. Gerry has chaired a number of national committees and has acted as an advisor and programme reviewer to third level institutions, EU governments and public authorities.  

John Gamble

President and CEO, ACEC Canada

As President and CEO of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Canada (ACEC), John Gamble is recognized nationally and internationally as an expert and spokesperson on engineering, business and public policy.
Before joining ACEC, John held a management and executive positions in a number of professional and industry associations. Prior to that, he served as a senior advisor to cabinet ministers in the Ontario government.

John holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Queen's University and practiced environmental engineering in a leading consulting firm serving both public and private sector clients. Throughout his career John has always promoted the importance of engineering to our social, economic and environmental quality of life to a wide range of industry, government, academic and public organizations. In 2006, he became the first recipient of the ACEC Chair's Award for his “exceptional contribution to the consulting engineering industry.”

Lyubomir Petrov is an Urban Planner in EQE Control OOD – Bulgaria. He holds a degree of MSc. In Urban planning from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is currently a PhD candidate in the field of Regional, Landscape and Urban planning. During the last 6 years Lyubomir was involved in many projects as an urban planner and junior project manager for his current employer – EQE Control OOD. The company is one of the leading engineering and consulting companies in Bulgaria providing services of planning, design and construction supervision, project management and FIDIC Engineer and consultant. Lyubomir is an active member of several professional organizations. He is the Chairman of the Bulgarian YP group within the Bulgarian Association of Consulting Engineers and Architects. He is also the Chairman of EFCA Young Professionals Steering Committee and a member of FIDIC Young Professionals Forum Steering Committee.

Eduardo Niebles

MD International Business, BST Global

As Managing Director of International Business at BST Global, Eduardo oversees the direction and strategy for BST Global's international business development and growth worldwide.

Eduardo joined BST Global in 2005 as the International Business Development Director, and in 2007 he became Managing Director for the European, Middle Eastern, and African regions. Later, he assumed the position of Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region. In these roles, he has led the market strategy and approach to establish BST Global as the business software provider of choice for architectural and engineering (AE) customers outside of North America.

Eduardo has more than 23 years of combined experience in the Information Technology and AE industries. Prior to joining BST Global, he spent 13 years in leadership roles, including General Manager for the Elevon subsidiary of SSA Global, VP of Professional Services for Walker Interactive, and MD for Revere, Inc.

Simon Horsley

Vice President, Regional Executive Bentley Systems

Simon Horsley, Vice President, Regional Executive is currently responsible for leading Bentley Systems’ UK, Ireland and Africa business activities. He has been with Bentley Systems for over 24 years, undertaking several sales, marketing and services leadership positions both locally and internationally. Simon played a key role in establishing the Bentley Systems International Limited (BSIL) entity and its presence in Dublin in 2010 and led BSIL during 2010 - 2017. During the last 24 years Simon has been very active from a global perspective for Bentley, gaining significant market and industry insights. His primary focus and core area of responsibility has been leading teams to inspire enterprises to adopt Bentley Systems’ innovative software solutions for advancing infrastructure. Simon is a passionate advocate for helping and educating organizations in advancing their “Going Digital” strategies, as well as providing information and resources to increase the integration of digital context, digital components and digital workflows across the project lifecycle, in order to accelerate closing the well-recognized industry productivity gap.

Emma Hayes

Managing Director, Digital Built Consultants

 

Emma Hayes, has over 20 years’ experience in the AEC industry in Ireland and internationally. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Technology from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), Bolton Street and a Master’s Degree in BIM Management from Middlesex University.

Emma is actively involved in driving progress in BIM adoption in the AEC industry. Previously, she was the Group BIM Manager with the project delivery specialists, PM Group, who are a large multi-disciplined AEC and Project Management organisation.  She was responsible for the development and implementation of the Group BIM strategy and roll-out of procedures and workflows for BIM adoption across the organisation’s network of offices in Europe, Asia and the US.  Emma has executed BIM on a number of high-value complex projects in the pharma, food, energy and mission-critical sectors such as the Dublin Waste to Energy plant at Poolbeg, 

 

Emma mentors and supports the development of women’s careers in BIM through her involvement in the Women in BIM (WiB) network. She is also a part-time lecturer on the Middlesex University BIM Management Master’s Programme.

Aonghus O'Keeffe

Roughan & O'Donovan

Aonghus O’Keeffe is an Associate at ACEI Member firm Roughan & O’Donovan and has over 15 years’ experience on a wide range of civil engineering services at all stages from conceptual and detailed design through to construction and asset management. Acting as Project Manager and Project Team Lead with a focus on asset information management and bridge engineering, his duties include technical lead, project management and business administration.

 

A Chartered Engineer, Aonghus holds a BE in Civil Engineering, an MEngSc in IT for Architecture, Engineering and Construction, and an MBA from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business. Aonghus leads ROD’s BIM and asset information management services. He is involved in various industry committees and working groups, including CEN/TC 442/WG 6 regarding BIM for infrastructure. Aonghus was a leading member of the CEDR INTERLINK research consortium.
